A common question we are asked is whether the solar power panels create hot water.  They don’t.  Solar panels convert the light from the sun into electricity, whereas solar hot water panels (or collectors) use the heat from the sun to heat water. In a round about way solar panels can power an electric hot water system, but this is an extremely inefficient way to heat water, a solar hot water system is far more efficient for your hot water needs.
